Why a lab
Experiments turn into methods.
A lab piece starts without a client – we pick a question that intrigues us and look for the data that can answer it honestly. The calculation methods, map displays and controls that come out of it later go into client projects.
The rules are the same as for our products: open data with a licence, every figure with a source, computed in the browser rather than on someone else’s server, and a page that works as well on a phone as on a large screen.
