We independently re-measure the accuracy of an existing AI workflow: in a blind test and with strict counting. For the public project ARCHROEN by João Sousa da Silva, strict re-counting gave 88.8 % instead of the published 95.6 %.

Remote sensing records the earth’s surface from the air or from space. We mainly work with airborne laser scanning (LiDAR), which measures the ground even beneath forest, and with satellite data for large areas.

Mostly from open sources: national and state mapping agencies publish terrain models, Copernicus provides satellite data. We state the licence on every map. We do not fly our own surveys.

The AI proposes candidates. Whether anything is there is shown by review – at the desk with maps and aerial images, and finally in the field by specialists. That is why we never call an open candidate a “find”.

Depending on the format: GeoTIFF maps for your GIS, a reasoned candidate and survey list, and a report that makes method, data sources and every rejection traceable.

Yes. Satellite data covers the globe and LiDAR is openly available in many countries. Our satellite data pilot was outside Europe.
